Personal & Professional Development

21st Century QI Human Skills

Given the rise of artificial intelligence and the reality that AI will continue to replace many jobs, The World Economic Forum estimates that 65% of children entering primary school now will end up working in jobs that do not yet exist.

There’s no doubt that technology is moving at lightning speed, and with that, the workplace is changing. But as the 2016 World Economic Forum list of 21st Century Skills shows, technology cannot replace creativity and critical thinking. It cannot replace compassion, leadership and adaptability. Nor can it replace self-management, problem solving or emotional intelligence.

These skills are often referred to as ‘soft skills’, but at Native English School we like to refer to them as QI (pronounced ‘key’) human skills and just as a person’s IQ is important, these QI skills will become vital in securing the top jobs of the future – a future where it is estimated 85 million jobs will be displaced and 95 million new jobs will emerge that are more adapted to the new division of labour between humans skills, machines and algorithms.

Our 21st Century QI Human Skills course focuses on the 10 most important ‘soft skills’ as identified by The World Economic Forum. It is a 10 month, short practical course wherein each month students will learn the fundamentals of 1 new skill and at the end of the course students will be armed with a toolkit of transferable and usable soft skills that will make them stand out from the crowd.
